NCFE Music Technology. Unit 1 assessment MIKE

NCFE-Music Technology- Unit 1 Assessment

1.6 How do you save your data appropriately? When saving the work you have last done, you go to file then save and write in what you want to save it as. Or the next time you go into Logic 8 the previous work you have done will come up.

1.9 Set up a track? when you want to set up a track you go to global tracks and press the cross to create a new track and put in the number of how many tracks you want to make.

1.10 Assign a sound to the track? To put a sound onto your track you need to create a track first and then put in the instrument you want. The instruments are on the right hand side and you just click on the one you want.

1.11 Record a MIDI sequence? A MIDI sequence is when you want to record the work that you have done. You record it on the piano roll. You can either do it on a keyboard or the keyboard on the computer.

1.12 Evaluate the quality of the recorded sequence and amend where appropriate? When you have recorded what you want, you need to edit the notes and put them in the right places. You can press record then listen over everything you have done then change it on the piano roll.

1.13 How do you quantize a track? You have to make sure the note is in the correct place and box so that the note fits in well with the sequence.

1.14 How do you set up and record extra tracks? you go onto global tracks in the left hand corner and add in how many tracks you want. Then when you want to record your track you go to the transporter and press record.

1.15 How do you evaluate final recordings? Final recordings is when you listen to everything and if you want to change anything you just click back on the piano roll and make changes then listen back over it to make it perfect.

1.17 How do you move, copy and paste, erase and use other tools in the tool box? You can move the notes on the piano roll by clicking then moving it to where you want. To copy and paste you highlight the parts you want to copy then press control and right click then put it to where you want the notes to be. To erase you click on the note then press delete or you can double click it. The tool box is the arrow or the pencil and it has different tools on. The ones that I have mostly used is the pencil because it’s what you put on the piano roll to make your notes.

1.18 How do you use automation? Automation is when it is in control of the sounds. You can do it on the Logic 8 on the bottom right hand corner to adjust the volume or you can do it on your keyboard. Also the transporter bar controls the sounds and most things like recording.

1.19 How do you evaluate an end product? Its when everything is finished and you say what you did and how you did it. You explain what tools and sounds you used. Also talk about how many tracks you used. If there is anything you would change what would it be?
